Content Insider #511 - Content Industry Mashup
Content Folks Focus on the Technical Issues of Entertainment
VR is so real it led off the four-day HPA conference down in Palm Springs but it was only the tip of the iceberg of what technicall creative pros are doing way above and beyond (better) than what your kids post every day on YouTube. This is the event where the pros roll up their shirt/blouse sleeves to talk about how they're going to ensure quality content is produced and distributed. Yes the studio, production company and network pros also spent a lot of time figuring out the new OTT (Over The Top) streaming of content everywhere, anywhere, anytime to any device. Yes we do live in interesting times.

From the 7th - 10th February, Hitachi showcased their projector range at ISE 2017, the world's largest AV systems integration show. Meeting Room of the Future
Millennials are the 20th century's last generation and the first truly digital generation. They already comprise 80 million people in the USA and they will define and shape the world of work for years to come. So it is important for organisations to understand how best to engage with them and nowhere more so than in the sphere of technology.

Finals Week Fall 2016
With finals week upon us students are studying more than ever. With tests, papers and presentations due students are hitting the library hard. And all that studying means less time for fun activities. Sometimes the littlest thing can get you off track. That's why some students say they'll break up their routine and find places out of the ordinary to study. Rashid Bey/PSU Senior with a Major in Sociology and Communications: "I can't study at home because then I've got everything else there. And I'm just comfortable there doing everything else because I've always done everything else there. So I have to pick a new spot that literally my brain can associate studying with. And then I study there. That's usually secluded." Bey says when you're studying in a group, you need to make sure everyone is actually studying and not distracting each other.

Content Insider #489 - OTT, Crafty Strength
IBC Outlines Challenges in the New M&E World
More devices, more screens means more opportunities for content owners to move more entertainment material to consumers. I don't have to tell you that the world of content is going OTT to folks by-passing traditional channels. Cable companies and networks are struggling to adjust to the new (young) creative viewer while still deliver predictable news/information/entertainment to older folks...and trying to make money on all of them for their advertisers and their bosses. It's tough to jump to the next level of media & entertainment when you're uncertain how you're going to turn a profit. But my kids could care less about the delivery folks profit as long as they get their content when they want it, where they want it, how they want it.

Content Insider #488 - Storytellers
It's Tough to Be an Indie Filmmaker, but the Outlook is Getting Better
Studios and content buyers save their money for the big, sure hits for their shareholders. YouTube and Facebook open up their sites to good, bad, what the **** stuff. It helps people watch more and enjoy it less. Heck even Netflix has opted for quality not quantity in the stuff they offer. Fortunately help is out there from indie filmmakers who think with creative minds and creative hearts to weave stories they feel compelled to tell. It ain't easy but it's fun. Now because there are a gazillion ways people can entertain/inform yourself with OTT indies have opportunities to even make money doing what they love. It's freakin awesome!
